Eligibility:

The eligibility criteria for admission of candidates for the Ph.D programme in Women’s Studies:
 
i.                 Master’s degree in Women’s Studies or Gender Studies with 55%
OR
ii.                Master’s degree in other streams with one or two courses in the area of Women’s/Gender Studies and/or with demonstrable evidence of teaching and / or research and publications in the area of Women’s /Gender Studies.
iii.              Notwithstanding any of the above, the Doctoral Research Committee may recommend any additional coursework to individual candidates as required.

 

iv.              Fulfillment of eligibility criteria would be subject to qualifying in the entrance test and any other requirements as stipulated by the University.

The Ph.D programme in Women's Studies is aimed at providing doctoral candidates with the opportunity to pursue research in the interdisciplinary area of Women's Studies under the guidance of senior faculty members and scholars from the field. Depending on the level of preparedness, candidates may be asked to undertake required coursework before embarking on doctoral research. Research areas are determined by the candidates with the help of a doctoral committee and in consultation with individual supervisors. The programme is aimed at creating a pool of scholars and experts in the growing field of Women's Studies.
